Electives run M-F and are designed to give you more tools to engage with other musicians/dancers!
CÉILÍ BAND- the most popular elective, the band works on a repertoire for the Thursday night dance, as well as other events throughout the year!
BODHRÁN- bang a drum! This is a great way to start with Irish music, or play with rhythm at lunch!
SEAN-NÓS REELS- Come and learn the basic ways to play with the music: by dancing!
DANCE BASICS- If you show up to a céilí, what do you do? This class will teach you the basic moves to any Irish social dance, and give you the tools needed to get started!
SESSION SINGING- New to singing? Come and sing along on the choruses. Want to try to sing at the session? Learn what choices and skills can help you have a great experience.
LANGUAGE AND LECTURES, 12:30-1:30
LANGUAGE PLAYGROUND- Every day, come and eat your lunch while learning basic Irish conversation in the language playground! This method of teaching helps you practice conversation in action!
Wednesday- Brían o’hAirt, The History of Sean-nós Dance
SESSIONS & LISTENING ROOM (M-TH)
BEGINNER SESSION- Held in the auditorium, the beginner session has a published list of tunes that will be played daily and tunes are played at a slower pace.
INTERMEDIATE SESSION- Held in the front hallway, the intermediate session is a round robin session with tunes based on the group attending. Tunes are played at tempo.
LISTENING ROOM- The listening room will feature our faculty in an intimate, acoustic setting.
